Alana Tompson

Cinematographer, Director & Editor

Alana Tompson is an award winning cinematographer and editor based in Melbourne,

Australia. She specialises in producing creative and thought provoking documentary

and advertising content. Alana has extensive experience directing and filming talent and is known for making people feel comfortable and at ease in front of her camera. 
 

Alana has carved her path as a hard-working media professional with a strong sense of duty to the planet. Her first job was as a camera operator filming for Animal Planet's network television series, Whale Wars. She spent 100 days at sea documenting the high seas clashes between the Japanese Whaling Fleet and the conservation group, Sea Shepherd. 

  

In 2017 Alana won three awards at the Houston Worldfest International Film Festival for three short films she shot in Texas, U.S.A. In 2019 her first feature length documentary she edited, Defend, Conserve, Protect won Best International Feature Documentary at the American Documentary Film Festival. 



Alana freelances for some of Melbourne's top production companies across documentary, social, corporate and advertising content. Working as a one- person film crew or as part of a larger production, she will represent your production company and merge with your team. Alana can adapt herself to a range of shooting styles to work in with your clients vision or the style of your other shooters.
